The third grade Book Club offers third graders the opportunity to read and discuss books of their choosing. Students meet once a week during recess with the School Counselor to read and discuss the selected book. Discussions are informal and student-led and refreshments are always provided. Students work on reading strategies, while having fun.

The National Beta Club (often called "Beta Club") is an organization for 4th through 12th grade students in the United States. Its purpose is "to promote the ideals of academic achievement, character, leadership and service among elementary and secondary school students."

HMS celebrated Breast Cancer Awareness Month with a simply beautiful display of PINK! All pink everything. The staff, faculty, and students wore pink to celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness.

Havana Magnet School Angel Tree provides holiday assistance to families in need in Gadsden County. Teachers, faculty members, staff, and community members donated too HMS for this special event that helped to give holiday gifts to HMS neediest students.

The week of February 17 is Random Act of Kindness Week. The goal of Random Act of Kindness Week is to change schools, the workplace, families, and society through kindness!
